We are long term customers of Neilson beach club holidays and returned this year to Vounaki for the 4th year in a row. Overall the holiday was very good, food excellent sailing equipment good and other sports activities make this holiday what it is meant to be “ an active” holiday.
However there are 3 major things that are letting it down Firstly, its use of ENT to Gatwick and the implications to the journey out and the journey home. This flight is invariable on average 45 minutes late on its outward and inward journey. Some of that delay is spent in the airport most of the time it is sitting on the runway for in excess of half an hour. Since Neilson have used this airline there are always delays without exception.
This is made worse by the late flight back to Gatwick and the charges that are now associated with late check out. Due to the timing of the return pick up from resort which is not until 19:00 , unless you pay £50 for late check out you have to vacate at 10:00am .
We paid the supplement on booking as in previous years , only to find out in the resort that this year we then had to check out at 15:00 (allowing for our late checkout fee being prepaid) and then sit around till 19:00 (pickup time) unless we then paid in resort another 20 Euros whereupon we could then keep the room to 17:00 .
Then sadly despite the hotel’s location which is beautiful the hotel accommodation needs urgently upgrading. The bathrooms are outdated with rusted taps, skirting boards around the rooms are in desperate need of repair and painting . Air conditioning units have black mould in them and this is in a suite.
Come on Neilson invest in a better airline, better customer loyalty / support in resort and get the hotel refurbished please.
