Val Thorens

Val Thorens in France is the highest ski resort in Europe (2300m) in the largest linked ski area in the world (the 600km Three Valleys). Pretty impressive stats and a reliably snowsure area thanks to a glacier reaching 3230m.

The lift system is fast and far-reaching while access to the piste couldn't be better as most of the accommodation in the resort is ski-in ski-out.

At a glance...
  • 600km Three Valleys ski area
  • Snowsure with a glacier
  • Highest resort in Europe
  • Longest toboggan run in Europe
  • Fun & lively nightlife
  • Saturday flying from Gatwick, Heathrow, Birmingham or Manchester
  • 3 hour 30 minute transfer

It's the most southerly of The Three Valley resorts with a huge variety of pistes which makes it an excellent choice for everyone.  and the nightlife is fun and lively.

There's also a good number of spa and wellness centres open in the resort that offer up sports massages, beauty treatments, saunas, hot tubs and swimming pools, so relaxing should definitely be in the cards for your holiday.

On the mountain

Most of the nursery slopes are conveniently close to the village centre, perfect for novices. Skiers and boarders with intermediate skills will love the endless terrain here too, especially with Méribel and Courchevel as neighbours. The die-hards looking for some off-piste will love the freeriding between Val Thorens and Mottaret.

There’s a load of north-facing slopes above the tree line so you'll have plenty to tackle! The reds from the Peclet gondola are particularly challenging, and the busy runs from the Cime de Caron cable car are really popular too.
