Christmas ski holidays

Christmas ski holidays really are the most special of all. Ski resorts always feel magical, mainly due to the snow, fairy lights and that holiday buzz, but when it's actually Christmas, even the most 'bah humbug' person would be hard pushed to contain a smile.

Why ski at Christmas?
  • A truly magical time of year
  • Perfect for families
  • Enjoy local celebrations
  • Let someone else do the cooking
  • ... and the washing up

So stop dreaming about having a white Christmas this year and start planning yours. Whether you're going away as a family, group of friends or a couple you're guaranteed a magical Christmas ski or board holiday.

What to expect in resort at Christmas

Our resorts across Europe know how to celebrate the festive season in style, from the giant ice sculptures in Val D'Isere, to a horse drawn sleigh (complete with Santa) in Arabba. Over in Austria; Saalbach and Mayrhofen host traditional Christmas markets where you'll have the opportunity to buy some last minute gifts.

Stay in a Neilson Mountain Collection property and on Christmas day you'll get a traditional Christmas dinner without the hassle of cooking it yourself - don't worry, we won't forget the brussel sprouts. Properties not run by Neilson tend to have a Gala meal on Christmas Eve (feel free to put our expert team on the spot to check).

Everything is open

You don't have to worry about what to do on Christmas day as everything runs as normal. The lifts and slopes are open, as are the restaurants and bars, even ski and snowboard lessons go ahead.

It's a fun time to be on the slopes. You'll see skiing Santas, snowboarding elves and even the odd reindeer whizzing down the mountain. If you're travelling on a family ski holiday, see who can spot the most Santas.

Christmas ski chalets

On a Neilson Christmas ski chalet holiday, our fantastic hosts will look after you from the moment you arrive. The chalet will be decorated with a tree for you to leave your presents under for Christmas morning. On the big day you'll be greeted with a hearty 'Merry Christmas' and a glass of Buck's Fizz before you sit down to a filling cooked breakfast.

Then, head out to the slopes (everything is open as usual) for a day on the mountain like no other and come home to freshly made afternoon tea, canapés before a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Once you're full to bursting, relax in front of the fire, crack out the board games or simply grab forty winks to end Christmas day as you would at home.

Christmas ski deals

We've plenty of money saving deals to get you on then slopes for less this Christmas, from bar credit to free lift passes in selected Neilson Mountain Collection properties.
